Greetings, my fellow wanderlust-infused Gen Zs! Sophie here, your resident globe-trotter and virtual wellness guru. As I sit in my living room, sipping on a kale smoothie (yes, it tastes as green as it sounds), I can’t help but reminisce about the time when travel was just a plane ticket away. But hey, who said we cannot dream or plan for our next adventure?
So today, let’s virtually explore some of the world’s best wellness resorts. These are not just your run-of-the-mill luxury hotels with infinity pools and pillow menus; these are sanctuaries that promote holistic wellbeing through their unique offerings.
First on our list is The Farm at San Benito, nestled amidst lush greenery in the Philippines. This eco-luxury holistic medical wellness resort believes in healing ‘from the inside out’. Trust me when I say this; their vegan cuisine is so delicious that even a meat-lover like myself didn’t miss bacon for breakfast!
Their services range from detoxification programs to stress management retreats. They also offer an array of natural therapies based on traditional Filipino healing practices. So if you’re looking to rejuvenate both your body and spirit, this might just be your spot.
Next up is Bali’s COMO Shambhala Estate. Set amongst lush tropical rainforests and above the sacred Ayung River, this place is the epitome of tranquillity. They offer a range of wellness programs that include Ayurveda, hydrotherapy and even Pilates! I tried their ‘Cleanse’ program last year, and let me tell you, nothing beats sipping on a detoxifying green juice while overlooking the jungle.
Imagine meditating amidst the serene beauty of the Himalayas. Sounds dreamy, right? That’s exactly what Ananda in the Himalayas offers. Ranked as one of the best spa resorts in the world, Ananda provides an integrated approach to wellness with traditional Indian practices like yoga, meditation and Ayurveda at its core.
Their customised wellness programs focus on holistic health and spiritual growth. I still remember waking up to the sound of temple bells ringing in harmony with birdsong. It was pure magic!
If your idea of relaxation involves breathtaking views of Lake Garda coupled with world-class spa treatments, then Lefay Resort & Spa is for you. This Italian gem is known for its innovative approach to wellness that combines classical Chinese medicine with modern Western techniques.
Their ‘Discovery’ package includes activities like guided walks through olive groves and personalised energy massages. Trust me; it’s an experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and reconnected with nature.
Last but not least is Rancho La Puerta, located at the foot of Mount Kuchumaa in Mexico. This resort offers a fitness-focused approach to wellness with over 50 different classes daily, ranging from high-intensity interval training to restorative yoga.
But the real highlight for me was their cooking school, La Cocina Que Canta (The Kitchen That Sings). I mean, who wouldn’t love learning how to whip up healthy Mexican cuisine using fresh ingredients from their organic farm?
So there you have it, my fellow Gen Zs, a virtual tour of some of the world’s best wellness resorts. While we may not be able to travel freely at this moment, it doesn’t hurt to dream and plan for our future adventures. And who knows? Maybe one day soon, we’ll be sipping on green juices overlooking lush jungles or meditating amidst the serene beauty of the Himalayas.
Until then, let’s continue our wellness journey at home. Remember that self-care isn’t just about pampering spa treatments; it’s also about nourishing your body with healthy food (even if it tastes as green as it looks), staying active and taking time out for mindfulness practices.
I’m off now to attempt a homemade facial mask. Wish me luck! Until next time…
